Thinking about Epistemic Cognition

Professor Rosanna has referred that Epistemic virtue and responsibility. But in mainland now, public intellectuals (which is called 公知) bring many negative effects.

Public intellectuals should have been the authority of knowledge and give guides to the public.

How ever, more and more gurus in China give opinions carelessly, and shock the public.

The ‘bricker’(since 专家&砖家 reads the same in Putonghua, we call the unreliable exports as bricker) in the picture tells us the salt will decompose in the pot when cooking if it is added too early.

He ignores the common sense that NaCl has a very high decomposition temperature which is more than 800℃, We are not able to reach it in our kitchen.

Similarly, a ‘bricker’ tells that we should pay Breathing tax for the air we absorb.

More and more ‘brikers’ make the public intellectuals jokes. Credibility of public intellectuals in mainland decreases to a dangerous level.

Not only the public intellectuals, the academic atmosphere it self seems impetuous now.

More and more despise the accumulating of knowledge. ‘Fast Success’ guides become best sellers.

The situation really worries us. Improving needs not only our power, but the government’s.
