virtue and responsibility. But in mainland now, public intellectuals (which is
called 公知) bring many
negative effects.
Public intellectuals should have been the
authority of knowledge and give guides to the public.
How ever, more and more gurus in China

More and more ‘brikers’ make the public
intellectuals jokes. Credibility of public intellectuals in mainland decreases
to a dangerous level.
Not only the public intellectuals, the academic
atmosphere it self seems impetuous now.
More and more despise the accumulating of
knowledge. ‘Fast Success’ guides become best sellers.
The situation really worries us. Improving
needs not only our power, but the government’s.
